Grand County fishing report for the week of 3-2-20

Here is your Grand County fishing report for the week of 3-2-20. The warm weather and the wind has firmed up the lakes, which has helped the slush problem.

Grand Lake -  Fishing for all species has been average.  Ice conditions are spotty depending on where you are on the lake,  best conditions are in front of town while there is still very slushy areas all over when you get away from town area.  The lake trout are starting to suspend, finding them in 60-100ft of water, using electronics to target suspended fish when they move through.   Minnow style baits such as Biobait Rainbow Trout Swimbait, and spoons tipped with sucker are working well.  Rainbows and browns are still being found along the shorelines early and late in 12-20 ft of water.  Small tubes and tungsten jigs tipped with wax worms should produce fish.  - Dan Shannon Guide, Fishing with Bernie.

William's Fork - 14 to 17 inch lake trout are being caught in 50 to 70 feet of water with small 1 to 3 inch plastics tipped with sucker meat. The bite is getting tougher in the heavily fished areas.  Sam Hochevar- Guide Fishing with Bernie

Lake Granby- Rainbows continue to cruise the shorelines, inside turn and the backs of coves produced fish last week in 8-10' of water. Lake trout continue to fish well. Fish will start to suspend over deeper water ib the next week or so. Spoons, tubes or small swim baits tipped with sucker meat will catch these fish. The Fishing with Bernie team has been guiding in Grand county for over 25 years.
