Grand County Fishing Report 11/6/2026

Days are shorter, air is cooler, the fall bite is in full swing and it has been excellent! Shadow Mountain Reservoir and Grand Lake boat ramps have closed for the season, Sunset Point ramp on Lake Granby will remain open until November 29th. Fish are in a feeding mode as they prepare for the upcoming winter. Don’t miss out on the great action in these last few weeks of open water before we start chasing them through the ice!

Grand Lake - Boat ramp is closed for the season. Water temperatures are in the upper 40’s. Lake trout action is good. Target rocky areas in 15 to 35 feet of water with jig and grubs or flutterspoons in chartreuse colors tipped with a small piece of sucker meat. Best rainbow trout and brown trout action is in the inlet areas, small jerk baits and Kastmaster spoons are working well right now.

Williams Fork Reservoir - Boat ramps will remain closed for the season due to low water levels. Non-motorized hand launched boats are allowed. Water level is at 21%. Projections for this reservoir are that it will be drawn down to 6%-15% by next spring. Shore fishing has remained fair in the inlet areas. The river below the dam to the confluence with the Colorado River is flowing 60-90 CFS, fishing has been good. RS2, Miracle Midge and egg patterns are good fly selections.

Lake Granby- Sunset Point boat ramp hours are 6AM to 6PM. Closing date for the Sunset Point boat ramp will be 11/29. Stillwater Boat ramp is closed due to low water. Water level is at 48% or approximately 45.5 feet below full. Surface water temperatures are in the low 50’s. Lake trout action has been excellent. Look for them in 20 to 40 feet of water using Hooch’s Custom Tackle 2.5 inch Mustard colored tube or chartreuse colored spoons. Rainbow trout action has been good along the dams and creek inlets. Silver and pink Kastmasters or slow stripping a black with orange head egg sucking leech pattern Brown trout action has been fair on the windy afternoons or first thing in the morning in the rocky areas, Goldie streamers or pitching 2” white tubes to shore will produce bites.
