Grand County fishing report for the week of 8-18-19

Here is your Grand county fishing report for the week of 8-18-19

Williams Fork - Surface temp is 66 early in the morning warming to low 70's on a sunny day. Water capacity is holding at 99%. Water clarity is about 10 foot. The lake trout bite has slowed down... but with a bit of patience working a small grub or tube tipped with sucker meat within in a few inches of the bottom should produce limits in 80' to 100' of water. Rainbow fishing has also slowed. Shore fishermen bottom fishing with Power Bait, worms or Salmon eggs are landing a few fish. Casting to rises with small spinners or fly and bubble early and late in the day will produce some strikes. The inlet can be very productive on small Rainbows. Northern Pike remain slow. I'm not sure if it's due to an abundance of food, lack of population, or both. Best bets are first light and late PM. Kokanee trolling is very slow at best. Randy H Guide - Fishing with berniekeefe@hotmail.com

Grand Lake is fishing fair for lake trout. Jigs either on the bottom or targeting specific fish suspended are working well. Rainbows are being caught early and late by the inlets.

Granby is fishing good for lake trout. 70'-100' seems to be a very productive depth. White tubes, spoons and hair jigs tipped with sucker meat are getting bit. Rainbows have gotten tougher, bait on the bottom is still catching a few.

8-12-19 Grand County fishing report

Here is your Grand County fishing report for the week of August 5, 2019.

Williams Fork - Surface temp is 66 early AM warming to 71 on a clear day. Water capacity is 99%. Water clarity is about 10 foot. With the "dog days" of summer now upon us the Lake Trout bite has dropped off, but we are still catching in 80 to 90 foot of water on small grubs or tubes tipped with sucker meat. Scent attractant seems to help get the fish to bite. Patience is key this time of year. The Rainbow bite has also slowed, but bank fishermen are catching a few fish lake wide bottom fishing with bait. There is a good population of small Rainbows surface feeding early AM where the river meets the lake near the driftwood piles. Fly and bubble will work best on them. Northern Pike and Kokanee Salmon are slow. Randy H Guide - Fishing with Bernie

Grand Lake- A few rainbows are being caught early and late around the inlets. A few browns have been caught casting around boat docks early and late in the day. Lake trout are being caught on small jigs and spoons tipped with sucker meat.

Lake Granby- Look for rainbows in the back of the bays feeding on bugs just before dark. Small spoons are working well. A few kokanee are starting are starting to show up in Grand bay. Lake trout are being caught in 50'-100' of water. Trollers are catching a few on spoons, jiggers are doing well with twisters, heavy spoons and tubes. The last report mentioned patience with your spots. Its still important.

8-3-19 Grand County fishing report

Here is your weekly fishing report for the week of August 5, 2019.

Grand lake: The bite has gotten considerably tougher for all species. A few rainbows are still being caught in the inlets on a fly and bubble. Evenings seem to be best. The lake trout seem to get "wise" very fast. A couple bites in an area then the whole school shuts down. Sizing down your bait seems to help a little.

Williams Fork: Surface temp is 66 in the early AM warming to 71/72 on a sunny day. Water capacity is holding at 99%. Water clarity is about 10 foot. The Lake Trout bite remains good most days for the first few hours of the AM then slows as the day wears on. The bite picks up again after 4PM. We are catching in 80' to 100' with tubes or grubs tipped with sucker meat jigged on or just off the bottom. Suspended or swimming Lake Trout are easy to catch by spotting them on your sonar and dropping down to them. Rainbows are being caught lake wide bottom fishing with bait. Early and late in the day or on overcast days Rainbows are hitting small spinners and flies in the inlet where the river meets the lake. Kokanee trolling is very slow due to lack of population. Northern Pike are slow but if one hits the right environmental conditions the success rate will increase. Fish deeper water early in the day, fish shallower late in the day. Randy H Guide Fishing with Bernie

Lake Granby is still fishing well for lake trout. Water temps are in the high 60's.The bite in 80-100 feet is still good. Biobait tubes in white or slime colors tipped with sucker meat produced very well this past week. Patience is the key, groups of fish will swim by. Rainbows are hitting power bait along the shorelines. The bite is best early and late in the day.

7-22-19 Grand County fishing report

Here is your weekly Grand County fishing report for the week of 7-28-19. Williams Fork; Surface temp is 65 in the early AM warming to 70/71 late in the day. Water capacity is 99%. Water clarity is about 10' in the main body. With the high surface temps Northern Pike are feeding frequently... this is one of the best times of year to hook up with big fish. Northern fishing is slow, but the persistent angler should be able to come up with some follows and possibly get hit or two. Work deeper water early AM, shallower water late PM. The 15" to 21" lake trout bite is good for a few hours in the morning then drops to random hits late AM. We are catching in 70' to 100 ' of water with small tubes or grubs tipped with sucker meat. Rainbows are being caught lake wide bottom fishing with Power Bait, worms or Salmon eggs. Casting small spinners or spoons early and late in the day at rises, or working the inlet where the river meets the lake can be very productive. Randy H Guide - Fishing with Bernie

Lake Granby; Water temps are in the low 70's and the lake is full. The flow in the inlets has slowed down and so has the trout bite. There are still rainbows being caught around the shorelines on bait. Earlier or later is better. Rainbows are still cruising the shallow areas looking for bug hatches, if you see this happening cast a small spoon to the rise. Lake trout are being caught in 70'-100' of water close to an edge. Patience is the key, groups of fish will come by. Some will bite somme won't.

Grand Lake; A few lake trout are still being caught in 50'-100' of water. Small jigs tipped with sucker meat seems to be the most consistent bite. The rainbow fishing has gotten tougher but a few are still being caught trolling the shorelines.

Lake Granby: 56 degrees, Brown trout fishing has slowed considerably but a few are still being caught early and late in the day. The night bite should be picking up. Rainbows are still being caught around the shorelines, powerboat and worms are getting bit. Look for hatches in the evenings and cast flies or small spoons to the rises. We are seeing fish through out the entire water column from 50 to 100'. Lake Trout are scattered, but stopping on marked fish and dropping grubs or tubes tipped with sucker meat will porduce some hits. Rainbow fishing is good casting hardware at rises early and late in the day, as is bottom fishing with worms, salmon eggs or Power Bait. Northern Pike has picked up a bit but one has to work hard to hook up. Best opportunity is early AM and late PM casting the shore lines. Trolling for Kokanee is very slow due to low population.
