Middle park ice fishing report 2-5-19

This middle park fishing report is being brought to you by the Fishing with Bernie team for the week of 2-5-19. We are seeing very little slush around the lake. We could use some snow on the ice to help make the ride smoother. 

Williams Fork is still fishing well for smaller lake trout in the 12-17'' range, using small plastics in the 1 to 3 inch range. These plastics have been most productive when tipped with small pieces of sucker meat. The key seems to be to keep moving around structure in 30 - 70 feet of water until you find the greatest concentration of fish. Quite a few fish have started showing up suspended in the water column, so keep an eye on your fish finder and be looking for those fish. Rainbow action has remained slow to moderate with a fewlargefish being caught. Most of the rainbow action will be in shallow and will happen from sunrise and will last about 2 hours, small spoons tipped with wax or meal worms have been producing fish. The pike have been hit and miss with most of the fish being caught in 20 feet of water or less. Slush has improved from last week, however there are some nasty spots remaining. Look for snow that appears darker or slightly grey than the areas around it and avoid these areas as they are likely slushy. To book a trip with Sam call him at (720)666-0141

Grand Lake is fishing well for lake trout in 30-80' of water. Small grubs tipped with sucker meat are working well. Lake Granby is fishing very good for lake trout. Fish the 50-8-' depths with tubes, spoons or minor baits tipped with a small piece of sucker meat. Rainbows are being caught along the shorelines very early in the morning with small bright colored jigs in less than 15' of water.

Middle park ice fishing report 1-28-19

Here is your middle park fishing report for the week of 1-28-19. Due to the last couple snowstorms we are starting to experience a little bit of slush on the lakes. We are still seeing people walk long distances and ATV's out also. 

Williams Fork is still fishing well for 12-17'' lake trout, using the usual baits. The key seems to be to keep moving around structure in 30 - 70 feet of water until you find the greatest concentration of fish. Rainbow action has remained slow to moderate with a fewnice fish being caught. Most of the rainbow action will be in shallow and will happen from sunrise and will last about 2 hours. The pike have been hit and miss with most of the fish being caught in 20 feet of water or less. Sam Hochevar- Guide Fishing with BernieGrand Lake, Rainbow and Brown trout are still taking small, bright colored jigs tipped with wax or meal worms along the shorelines. It is also a good idea to also carry a rod with a small spoon to search for the aggressive fish feeding in the shallows. 8-20 feet of water seems to be best for these trout so drill some holes and find what depth the fish are holding in for that day. The lake trout are also feeding aggressively out in deeper water (50-90 feet). Small white jigs or tubes tipped with a piece of meat seem to be doing the trick. When you are out in the deeper water, keep an eye on the entire water column as there have been a few fish coming through suspended off of the bottom. The area by the east outlet and the inlet from Shadow Mountain continue to have open water and questionable ice especially when they are pumping water. Jake Foos- Guide Fishing with BernieLake Granby, Rainbows have been fishing pretty consistent along the shorelines in 8-15 feet of water using small jigs tipped with wax worms or spoons jigged very aggressively. Concentrate your efforts finding structure along the shoreline in these depths and that will give you the best chance at these fish. Lake trout have been fishing well in 50-80 feet of water on deep structure. Tube jigs, spoons and soft plastics tipped with a small piece of sucker meat has been producing the best. The lake is starting to see a lot of slush as of late with the heavy snows we have been getting. Please be aware of where you are traveling and use extra caution in these areas.Lake Granby's lake trout are very active till around noon. Small plastic jigs and spoons are catching the majority of fish. Weekly fishing report 1-22-19

Here is your middle park fishing report for the week of 1-22-19. Due to the last couple snowstorms we are starting to experience a little bit of slush on the lakes. We are still seeing people walk long distances and ATV's out also. 

Williams Fork 10 to 14'' - Williams Fork is starting to develop some areas of slush out there due to recent snowfall and warmer conditions. Williams Fork has been fishing well for lake trout in the 13 to 18 inch range in 40 to 80 feet of water. Small plastics with a small amount of sucker meat have been producing fish. Smaller spoons have been productive as well. A few pike have been caught, mostly in 10 feet of water or less. Rainbow action is mostly in shallow as well, in about 8 feet of water or less. The bulk of the action is early in the morning 6:45 to 9:30.

Grand Lake is fishing very well. Rainbows and a few browns are in shallow water eating bright colored jigs and spoons. Early mornings have been best. Lake trout are active in 30-80', small plastics tipped with sucker meat have been doing very well. Slab spoons have also been producing lots of fish. 

Lake Granby's lake trout are very active till around noon. Small plastic jigs and spoons are catching the majority of fish. Rainbows are active in 3-10' of water eating anything bright as long as its tipped with bait.

Weekly fishing report for the week of 1-14-19

Here is your middle park fishing report for the week of 1-14-19. 

Williams Fork, Ice has been 8-11'' check as you go. Rainbows have been slow to moderate with most of the action coming early in the morning in shallow water (3 to 8') on small jigs and spoons tipped with meal worms or wax worms. Plenty of small lake trout (13 to 18 inches) are still being caught on structure in 60 to 80 feet of water on or near the bottom. Small jigs and spoons have been the top producers for smaller lake trout. The lake trout bite has slowed down in recent days so keep moving around structure until you find the greatest concentration of fish and expect some very light bites. The larger lake trout have been tough recently but larger tubes  and moving around the lake has produced a few good sized fish. Hochevar, guide Fishing with BernieGrand Lake has 10-12" of ice everywhere we've been. Rainbows have been very active in shallow water. Small jigs tipped with wax worms have been getting bit. Browns are a little deeper, small jigs are working for them also. Lake trout are hitting in 40-80' of water. 1"-3" tubes tipped with sucker meat have been working very well. Lake Granby has 8-10" of ice everywhere we've been. Rainbows are active early in the morning in 3-8' of water. Small jigs tipped with wax worms are working. Lake Trout have been active in 30-90' of water. 2-3" tubes and spoons tipped with sucker meat are getting bit.

Weekly fishing report 1-7-19

Williams Fork,Ice has been 5-8" check the ice as you go. Rainbows have been slow to moderate with most of the action coming early in the morning in shallow water (3 to 8') on small jigs and spoons tipped with meal worms. Plenty of small lake trout (13 to 18 inches) are being caught on structure in 40 to 80 feet of water on or near the bottom. Small soft plastics in the 1 to 3 inch range tipped with small pieces of sucker meat have produced most of the fish. Keep moving around structure in these depths to find the greatest concentration of fish as it can vary greatly from day to day. Grand Lake, Ice has been 5-8' everywhere we've been. Check it as you go. Rainbows have been hitting small jigs tipped with sucker meat in 3-10' of water. Lake trout have been eating small white jigs tipped with sucker meat. 

Lake Granby, Ice has been 4-6" check the ice as you go. Rainbows have been eating small bright colored jigs tipped with wax worms in 3-10' of water. The early bite is best. Lake trout have been hitting small jigs and spoons tipped with sucker meat. Depths of 30-80' seem to be best.

Here is your middle park fishing report for the week of 12-26-2018. Ice conditions are changing daily, please use extreme caution while walking on the ice. Check the ice as you go.

Grand lake is fishing well for rainbows in 3'-12' of water. Tiny jigs tipped with wax worms or small spoons are enticing strikes. Lake trout are eating 1"-3" grubs and tubes tipped with sucker meat in 30'-80' of water. 

Williams Fork, Rainbows are in shallow water eating very bright jigs tipped with wax worms or very small pieces of sucker meat. Small jigs tipped with sucker meat are getting bit by lakers in 50'-80' of water. A few pike are being caught with spoons in 10'-15' of water.

Granby, Lake trout are hitting tubes, spoons and bled baits all tipped with sucker meat in 30'-80' of water. (Make sure your sucker meat does not interfere with the action of the lure). Rainbows and browns are hitting small jigs tipped with wax worms in 6'-10' of water.

Middle Park fishing report for the week of 12-26-18

Here is your middle park fishing report for the week of 12-26-2018. Ice conditions are changing daily, please use extreme caution while walking on the ice.  Rainbows are being caught in 3'-8' of water. A 2 rod set up, one with a small spoon and the other with a small ice jig tipped with a meal worm seems to be working very well. Look for the rainbows and browns off of rocky/gravel points early in the morning. Kokanee are in deeper water generally suspending 10'-50' deep. They are following the plankton. Small bright colored spoons tipped with wax worms will entice strikes. Lake Trout are cruising in 30'-80' deep. Small soft plastics tipped with sucker meat should get bit. 

Grand lake has 5" or more of ice everywhere we have fished it. 

Shadow Mountain had 4" where we checked it.

Williams Fork still had open water as of the 22nd.

Granby has open water and plenty of spots with 1"-3" of ice.

Middle Park fishing report for the week of 12-18-18

Here is your middle park fishing report for the week of 12-18-2018. Ice conditions are changing daily, please use extreme caution while walking on the ice.  

Willow Creek is frozen and fishing is good too excellent for rainbows and salmon. Rainbows are along the shorelines eating small jigs tipped with sucker meat. Kokanee are in deeper water jigging bright colored spoons tipped with wax worms, shrimp or corn will attract them.

Grand Lake, Rainbows and browns are along the shoreline. They will be eating small jigs tipped with wax worms in 6'-10' of water. lake trout are in deeper (20'-80') water and are eating small jigs tipped with sucker meat. Keeping the jigs moving seemed to be important last week.

Williams Fork is getting real close. This past weekend we were able to get out in the coves and fish for rainbows and a couple small pike.  They ate small spoons tipped with wax worms. The rainbow bite on all these lakes is early, the best bite is over with by 9 am.

Shadow mountain is frozen. They started pumping again so there is water on the ice around Green ridge boat ramp. 

Granby is just starting to freeze. There is still some open water, casting spoons or jigs will entice lake trout.

Weekly fishing report for the week of 12-10-18

Here is your middle park fishing report for the week of 12-10-2018. Please use extreme caution while walking on the ice. Check it as you go. Grand Lake is frozen. Small jigs tipped with sucker meat are working for lake trout. Rainbows are eating tiny jigs tipped with wax worms or other larvae in the shallows.

Willow Creek is froze, rainbows are in the shallows eating ice jigs, small spoons and small jigging raps tipped with wax worms, worms or eggs. There are a few spawned out salmon along the shoreline. Don't move your lures too fast for these fish, they don't have any tails left.

Shadow is froze, Small browns and rainbows are eating tiny ice jigs early in the morning. Once the sun hits the ice it's over. 

Granby is getting closer but for now we still have lots of shore fishing to do. Casting lures like leech flutter spoons, last masters, tube jigs will get bit by rainbows, browns and lakers. The key is to keep moving till you catch fish. 

The north park lakes are froze, small jigs with wax worms fished in less than 10' of water will entice strikes from rainbows and brown trout.

Weekly fishing report for 10-30-2018

Here is your middle park fishing report for the week of 10-30-2018. Fork Fishing Report, Surface temp is 46. Water capacity is 81%. Ramp hours are 7AM to 7PM. The ramp will close for the season at 7PM on Wednesday October 31st. The inlet is closed to fishing due to Kokanee milking operations. CPW will be giving away milked Koke's on the 30th. Lake trout fishing is very good! Casting lures from shore or a boat is producing fish. Vertical jigging is producing more fish than casting. We are easily catching limits in 40 to 70 foot with Reel Bait Plain Jane's and Zimmer Spoons tipped with sucker meat or bottled Salmon eggs. The bite drops off mid day, but the fish are catch-able all day. Shore fishermen are catching large Rainbows bottom fishing with bait or casting lures. Northern Pike can be spotted in shallow water on sunny afternoons but are difficult to catch. Kokanee trolling is very slow.  Consistent with the last several years... there is no Kokanee snagging action due to low population. Randy H guide - Fishing with berniekeefe@hotmail.com

Lake Granby lake trout spawn is going strong. Bank fishermen are doing well with long slender spoons like the Leech flutter spoon fished deep and slow. Soft plastics tipped with sucker meat are also producing a lot of fish. The key is fishing right in the rocks, lighter jig heads will help with the snags. Boat fishermen are doing well with soft plastic tubes, twister tails and plain jane spoons tipped with sucker meat. Rainbows are hitting small jigs tipped with wax worms under a bobber near the inlets and rocky areas. There are some salmon along the shorelines, small pink jigs tipped with a wax worm under a bobber will give you opportunities at these fish.

Please remember  shadow mountain spillway to Columbine Bay is closed to fishing October 1st to december 31st.
