Williams Fork Fishing Report , The ice is holding at 10-12” thick in most spots with some slushy areas spread out around the lake.

Grand Lake is fishing well for rainbows along the shorelines. Small jigs tipped with wax worms are working well.
Middle Park fishing report for 1-30-2018
Thanks to everyone that came to fish the 3 Lakes ice fishing contest. By now the fish have settled down and will eat. Lake Granby is fishing very good for all species. Rainbows and browns are being caught in water less then 15 feet deep on small jigs tipped with wax worms. Spoons are a great attractor. Most Lake trout are being caught at 40-70 feet of water. Tube jigs, hair jigs, spoons, and plain jig heads tipped with a small piece of sucker meat are enticing bites.
Williams Fork, The fishing dropped off a bit this week, but there are still plenty of 12-17” lake trout being caught on the usual baits. Focus on structure in 35-65 feet of water for the best action. Tube jigs tipped with sucker meat and various jigging spoons are consistently producing a few strikes. Smaller baits like bare jigheads with a chunk of sucker and gulp minnows are also catching a few. The key is moving around to find the highest concentrations of fish. Bigger lakers have been tough to entice recently but there is always the possibility of a trophy at this lake. The best tactic for rainbows has been to fish early in the day in shallow water in one of the bays with micro jigs or crappie tubes. A few pike are also being caught in shallow water bays but action for them is hit or miss.
The ice is about 12-14 inches thick across most of the lake with a slightly thinner area near the dam. There is still about 6 inches of snow on top of the ice. There is still no slush anywhere on the lake. Tucker Bamford
Grand Lake, The Rainbow trout and Brown trout continue to be active and hungry with the best bite being early and late in the day. They are being found between 8ft and 16ft of water depending on time of day and are being caught on a variety of baits, but the Leech Flutter Spoon by Clam tipped with a wax worm has been my go to bait. Lake trout are being caught all over the lake, but it takes some diligence and searching. Get out drill some holes and use that Vexilar to determine where the Lake trout are and what their mood is for the day, seems to change every day. Ice is in good shape on the town side of the lake, use caution if venturing out, and beware of the areas with moving water, as the ice varies significantly there compared to rest of lake!. Middle Park fishing report for 8-28-2017
This weeks middle park report is brought to you by Fishing with Bernie. The temps in the morning are dropping to 32 degrees, Snow has made an appearance in the valley also. Fantastic fall fishing is getting closer, for now present your baits carefully and remember exactly what you were doing when you get bit. Repeat that and you should be successful.
Williams Fork Fishing Report. The surface temp at Williams Fork is 62 in the morning warming to 65 in the afternoon. Temps in deep water have not changed. The lake has dropped about 5' since the first of the month. Boat ramp hours are 6AM to 8PM. This week the Lake Trout bite has been hit and miss depending on the day. My clients are catching fish vertical jigging 90 to 120 foot with bright colored Berkley grubs tipped with sucker meat. Bite is best early AM but one can find fish all day. Fishing for Rainbows from shore near the east boat ramp should be good. The lake was recently stocked with 2000 catch-able Rainbows. Casting small spinners or bottom fishing should produce some fish. Kokanee trolling remains slow. Persistent trollers are getting few fish 16" to 19" at 30 to 40 foot. Large Northern Pike are sitting in deeper cooler water. Younger fish are hugging the shore lines. Lake Granby and Grand lake are both fishing fair to good for rainbows. boaters are catching them by trolling or casting bright spoons or small crank baits. Shore fishermen are doing well with powerbait and worms. Kokanee are showing up in Columbine bay trolling seems to be getting a few each morning. Lake trout are being caught at depths of 60-120' with tubes and spoons with sucker meat.

With the cool nights and PM thunder storms the surface temp at Williams Fork is now 63 in the morning warming to 65 in the afternoon. Temps in deep water have not changed. This week the Lake Trout bite has been good at 90 to 115 foot. My clients are catching fish vertical jigging bright colored grubs tipped with sucker meat. Bite is best early AM but we are catching fish all day. Fishing from shore is slow but some anglers are catching a few Rainbows bottom fishing. Wading anglers are catching Rainbows where the river runs into the lake on spinners. Kokanee trolling is slow. Some trollers are getting small numbers of 16" to 19" fish at 30 to 40 foot. Large Northern Pike have have moved to deeper cooler water. Younger fish are hugging the shore lines. Working the shoreline with spinner or jerk baits should produce some hits. Work deeper water for the larger fish. It doesn't matter what type of lure you are using as long as it can get to the fish. Your best chances are on low light windy days and near sunset. Grand Lake – Fishing is up and down depending on the day and weather conditions, which have been unpredictable at best. Water temp stays in the low to mid 60’s. Rainbows and Browns are being caught along the shorelines with small cranks and worms below a bobber reeled in slowly. Trollers are catching them on pop gear with a small spinner tipped with a worm trolled along the shorelines. Lake trout have moved a little deeper, they are being caught at 70-110’ and there has been a great suspended fish bite at times out over the deep water. Electronics are key for proper depth presentation to those suspended fish, and small spoons tipped with a small piece sucker have been hot bait. Lake Granby continues to fish very well. Rainbows are eating bugs on the surface in the evenings. Powerbait and worms are working early and late in the day. A few kokanee are starting to show up in the mouth of Columbine bay, Trolling small spinners and spoons 30-40' deep. Lake Trout are ranging from 50-120' deep. Tube jigs and slab spoons (Reelbait.com) tipped with a small piece of sucker meat has been working. Grand Lake, Water temp remains in the mid 60’s. Fishing for all species is fair with the best time to be on the water during the low light periods. Don’t be afraid to work and move often to find the active fish and you will be successful this time of year. With the cooler weather Williams Fork's surface temp has dropped to 64 in the morning warming to high 60's in the afternoon. The Lake trout bite is fair to good depending on the day. We are having success vertical jigging with bright colored grubs and power minnows tipped with sucker meat between 90 to 120 foot. Fishing from shore is generally slow but some anglers are catching a few Rainbows bottom fishing. Kokanee trolling is slow but some trollers are getting small numbers of 16" to 19" fish at 30 to 40 foot.Large Northern Pike have have moved to deeper cooler water while younger fish are along the shore lines. The Northern bite is hit and miss. When you find a hungry fish you'll get a hit, it doesn't matter what type of lure you are using. Your best chances are on low light windy days and near sunset. Lake Granby is fishing well for rainbows. The bank fishermen are doing well near the campgrounds with powerboat and worms. Trollers are catching them with small crank baits and shiny spoons. Lake trout are in 50-100 feet of water. Tubes, hair jigs and slab spoons are all working. Trollers are catching fish on crank baits and spoons.
