Grand County Fishing Report Week of 7/14/25

Grand Lake - Boat ramp hours are 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Water temperatures are in the low 60’s in the morning then warming to mid 60’s by mid-day. Fishing for rainbow trout and brown has been good. Target these fish early in the morning along the rocky shorelines, Kasmaster and Little Cleo spoons in blue/silver color has been consistently producing. For fly anglers and leech pattern stripped slowly has also been producing. Once the sun hits the water the fish move a little deeper. Lake trout fishing has been fair. Bright orange jig head with a black or green grub jigged tight to the bottom has been most consistent lure. Tip with fresh sucker and pay very close attention for those light lake trout bites. Be prepared to move frequently to stay on active fish. Fishing with Bernie Guide, Dan Shannon.

Williams Fork Reservoir- The east boat ramp hours are 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. This fishing report is straight off the water. The water level is 99% of capacity. Inflow is 119cfs, outflow is 127cfs. Water clarity is excellent; jigs drop out of sight around 15 feet. Early morning surface temperature is 65 warming to 67+ on calm sunny days. The days of fishing shallower water seem to be over until fall. The lake trout bite is fair to good dependent on the day. Look for small groups (the fish are scattered right now) on the top of or bottom of drop offs in 70 to 90 feet of water. For fish on the bottom 4" and smaller plastics tipped with sucker meat is working best for us. Color doesn't seem to be as important as the presentation. The bite is on the slow side so presentation is key to putting a limit in the boat. Dead sticking with a twitch every now and then only raising your jig a few inches off the bottom is producing bites. Fish in the column are hunting and much more aggressive than those on the bottom. Cranking up to fish and working the bait hard is producing bites about 50% of the time. Usually, the fish in the column are bigger than fish on the bottom. Northern Pike has been slow and I rarely see anyone fishing for them. Rainbow Trout haven't been stocked for several years so it's doubtful there's any catchable fish in the lake. The recently stocked Kokanee are very small and won't be catchable for a few years. Fishing with Bernie Guide, Randy Hall

Lake Granby - Boat ramp hours are 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Water level is 97.5% or approximately 2 feet below full. Temperatures are mid 60’s to start the morning and warming to upper 60’s by mid-day. Fishing for rainbow trout and brown trout has been fair. Look for rainbows in 10 to 20 feet of water along the rip rap dam’s and rocky shorelines. Blue, pink and silver spoons have been producing fish when worked with a lift fall retrieve. Alternatively shore anglers are reporting success with worms fished close to the bottom along the banks that drop off quickly to deeper water. Lake trout bite has been good. We are finding the most active fish in 60 to 85 feet of water. Tube jigs 4 inches and smaller in natural colors have been our go to baits. Tip them with fresh sucker for best results and stay mobile, not all groups of fish are actively feeding. Sometimes you have to work a few areas before you find an active group. Fishing with Bernie Guide, Dan Shannon.
