Grand County Fishing Report Week of 6/16/25

Grand Lake - Boat ramp hours are 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. The inlets are still running strong, be careful of floating debris around the lake. The brown trout and rainbow trout bite has been great around the inlets, casting spinners and Dynamic J-Spec jerkbaits is a great way to target these fish. Early mornings and late evenings is the most productive times to target the browns and rainbows. Lake trout have been biting well in 30 to 45 feet of water. Small jigs in the 1 to 3 inch range in green or smoke color tipped with sucker meat have been producing most of the fish. Fishing with Bernie Guide, Sam Hochevar

Williams Fork Reservoir - The east boat ramp hours are 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. The water level is 94%, or 3.4 feet low. Inflow is 650cfs and the outflow is 150cfs. The increased inflow is bringing in floating debris so keep an eye out for logs, sticks and branches. Water clarity is still about 10 feet. Last trip the surface temp was 59 degrees early am and warmed to 61 degrees by noon. The lake trout bite is really good for the first three hours of the morning then slows down dramatically until early evening. Right now we're seeing 7 to 10 fish per rod. Look for all age groups in 50 to 60 feet of water, but they can be found in 80+ feet. So far the lake trout are not moving to deeper water, the water is getting deeper on them. This week 3 inch to 4 inch tubes tipped with sucker meat was working best for us. Work the jig gently a few inches off bottom, then touch or rest on the bottom then repeat the process. Suspended or swimming fish are still fairly aggressive. We're catching about 50% of the suspended fish. Northern Pike is slow. I did talk to a guy that had one follow to his boat in the shallows, but didn't catch any. Please help save this resource for other anglers and return all Northern's to the water. Rainbow Trout have not been stocked for several years so it's doubtful there's any catchable fish in the lake. The recently stocked Kokanee are very small and won't be catchable for a few years. Lake Granby - Boat ramp hours are 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Water level is at 92.5% or approximately 6 feet below full. Water temperatures are in the upper 50’s to start the morning and warming to mid 60’s during the day. Rainbow trout bite has been good. Target the low-light periods of the day, and areas of flowing water. A silver or chartreuse spoon worked on a steady retrieve should produce fish. Brown trout bite has been fair to good depending on the conditions. Jerkbaits and fluorescent orange-colored spoons worked with an erratic retrieve has been our go to lures. We are also getting some action on streamers with a fly rod, egg sucking leeches with a tungsten head have been a great pattern. Lake trout bite remains good. Look for them in 40-70 feet of water along breaks and drop offs. Grubs and tubes have been the most consistent on a 3/8-ounce jig head tipped with fresh sucker. Orange, green pumpkin and white have been the most productive colors. Use those electronics to locate fish, right now majority of fish are actively feeding though starting to see some groups that will look but not bite. Fishing with Bernie Guide, Dan Shannon.
