Here is your Grand County fishing report for the week of 8-31-20

Williams Fork - Water capacity is 90% and dropping. Ramp hours are 6AM to 8PM daily. Surface temp is 64 in the main body early AM. The shallow bays around the campgrounds are near 70 degrees on a sunny day, which has pushed the Rainbows to deeper water. Bottom fishermen are catching a few Rainbows along the deeper drop offs with worms, eggs or Power Bait. The Lake Trout bite is good on mixed age groups. Look for them in 80 to 90 foot. Rubber grubs tipped with sucker meat is working well fished on the bottom. Northen Pike are slow, but they are following lures fished on a slow to medium retrieve. Grand Lake- Bite has been moderate this week with most of the action coming early in the morning. Lake trout are hanging in 35 to 55 feet of water. Jigging small plastics on the bottom has produced most of the fish. Rainbows and browns are at the surface at first light and 10 to 15 of water by mid morning. Sam H

Lake Granby- The bank fishing has been extremely difficult, it should be getting better in the next couple weeks. Trollers are catching a few rainbows over deep water with small minnow style baits. Lake trout are still willing to eat jigs and spoons tipped with sucker meat. Our best bite has been 60-90'.

Grand Lake - Lake trout are hanging in 40 to 70 feet of water. The lake trout bite has picked up a bit this week with most days having a decent bite in the morning. Jigging is the best way to target lake trout right now. Browns and rainbows can be found near the surface at first light and between 15 and 25 feet of water by mid morning. Williams Fork - Water capacity is 91% and dropping. Ramp hours are 6AM to 8PM daily. Surface temp is 64 warming to 67 late in the day. Lake Trout are biting well once you locate a group. We're starting to see mixed age groups bunched up. Look for them in 80 to 90 foot. Small rubber grubs tipped with sucker meat worked on the bottom will get bites. Rainbows are slow in the shallow water areas around the campgrounds. Your best bet is the deeper drop offs bottom fishing with bait, or casting small spinners in the inlet. Kokanee trolling is slow but trollers are catching a few in 40 to 50 foot along with small Lake Trout. Northern Pike are slow. We're seeing followers in the bays, but they don't want to hit. Lake Granby- A few rainbows are being caught from the banks with bait. the bite is best early and late in the day. Trollers are picking up a few over the deeper water. Night fishing continues to improve for the browns. Minnow baits of large flies are getting bit. Lake trout are eating small grubs tipped with sucker meat.  Try 60'-90', the best bite has been before 11.

Fishing is still slow as weather has remained hot and dry. Lake trout are hanging in 35 to 70 feet. 3.5 inch to 5 inch jigs tipped with sucker meat have been producing fish. Most bites have come while working the jig very slow on the bottom. Rainbows and browns are rising at the surface early in the morning however they are going deeper shortly after the sun hits the water. Sam Hochevar, Guide- Fishing with Bernie

Williams Fork - Water capacity is 93% and dropping. Ramp hours are 6AM to 8PM daily. Surface temp is 65 warming to 67 on a sunny day. The Lake Trout bite has been good on some areas of the lake. Jigging small rubber grubs or tubes tipped with sucker meat on the bottom is producing hits in 80 to 90 foot of water. Northern Pike fishing is slow but they are catchable if you work hard. Working the west bays with any lure type on a slow to medium retrieve is your best bet. The shallow bays around the campgrounds are warming to 70 degrees which has made bottom fishing for Rainbow slow. Fish the cooler deep water drop offs. Casting small lures at the inlet is producing a few fish. Kokanee Salmon trolling is slow due to low population, but a few are being caught in 40 to 50 foot along with small Lake Trout. Lake Granby- Rainbows are getting tougher along the shorelines. Evenings and mornings have been best. A few nicer browns are being caught at night. Large flies and minnow baits have been the bait of choice. Lake trout are still easting small jigs tipped with sucker meat in 50-9-' of water.

Look for them in 80' to 90' of water. Jigging small grubs or tubes tipped with sucker meat will produce bites. The bite drops off around 11AM and picks up again late in the afternoon. Bottom fishing with bait for Rainbows around the east campground bay is slow. Fish the deeper drop offs were the water is cooler. Casting small spoons, spinners or flies around the inlet is producing some hits early and late in the day. Kokanee trolling is slow but some fish are being caught in 40' to 50', you'll mostly hook up with young Lake Trout. Northern Pike are slow, but they are catchable early and late in the day. Lake Granby- The heat of the day is bringing browns to the shorelines at night. Casting large flies or minnow baits has been getting better. Rainbows are mostly in deeper water. Trolling minnow baits over deep water has been catching a few fish. Lake Trout Have been getting pickier but will still hit small grubs tipped with sucker meat. The bite has been ok in 60-90' of water.

Here is your Grand County fishing report for the week of 8-2-20.

Grand Lake: fishing is still slow as high temperatures and fishing pressure have made the bite tough. Lake trout are hanging in 30 to 60 feet of water. Small jigs tipped with sucker meat worked slow on the bottom have produced most of the lakers. The best chance for rainbows and browns is at first light until the sun hits the water. After the sun hits the water throwing some bait in 10 to 20 feet of water has produced a few fish. Guide Sam Hochevar 

Williams Fork - Water capacity is 98%. Ramp hours are 6AM to 8PM daily. Surface temp is 65 warming to 67 in the main body. The Lake Trout bite is up and down. One day the bite is good the next can be slow. The bite does drop off around 11AM but seems to pick up again around 3PM. Jigging small grubs or tubes tipped with sucker meat in 80' to 90' of water will produce some light bites. Bottom fishing with bait for Rainbows around the campground bays has slowed but a few are still being caught. Casting the inlet with small spinners, spoons or flies early and late in the day should produce some hits. Due to lack of population Kokanee trolling is slow, but a few four-year olds are being caught in 40' to 50'. You will pick up young Lake Trout while trolling for Koke's. Northern Pike are still slow but they are more active than they've been in the past. Casting the shallow west bays is your best bet. Randy H Guide - Fishing with Bernie

Lake Granby- Rainbows and browns are getting tough from the bank. A few are being caught early and late in the day. Trollers are catching a few rainbows using minnow style baits over deep water. Lake trout are continuing their migration to deeper water and getting a little pickier on what they are willing to eat. Small grubs, spoons tipped with sucker meat are still catching a few each day.

Williams Fork - Water capacity is 99% as the summer draw down begins. Ramp hours are 6AM to 8PM daily. Surface temp is 65 warming to 67 in the main body. The Lake Trout bite is fair to good depending on the day. The bite drops off considerably after 11AM but you can find biters in 80 to 90 foot throughout the day. Small grubs tipped with sucker meat are working best for us. Northern Pike are slow but we've had some follows in the west bays. Rainbows are breaking the surface most of the day. Cast small spinners or a fly and bubble at the rises. A few Rainbows are being caught bottom fishing around the campgrounds with Power Bait or worms. You'll probably catch some Crawdads too. Kokanee trolling is slow but some four years olds are being caught in 40 to 50 foot. Most Koke trollers are catching small Lake Trout. Randy H Guide - Fishing with Bernie 

Grand Lake - Bite has slowed down this week. We are finding lake trout in 30 to 60 feet of water. Small plastics and spoons tipped with sucker meat have produced most of the lake trout. Make sure to capitalize on every chance as bites are at a premium this time of year. Browns and rainbows can still be caught near the surface at first light but as soon as the sun hits the water it gets tougher.

Lake Granby - Rainbows and brown trout have been difficult along the shorelines. A few browns are being caught at night with lures. Lake trout are still willing to hit small jigs tipped with sucker meat. Williams Fork - Water capacity is at 100%. Ramp hours are 6AM to 8PM daily. The surface temp is 64 warming to 66 in the main body. Small Lake Trout are biting well until about 11AM and pick up again after 3PM. Look for them in 70 to 90 foot of water. Small grubs or tubes tipped with sucker meat fished near the bottom will produce some hits. Some Northern Pike are being caught in the west bays. Any lure that finds a fish that's in the mood will get hit, but be prepared to work hard for that hit. Rainbows are rising for bugs on the surface throughout the day. Cast small spoons, spinners or flies at the rises. Shore fishermen are catching a few Rainbows around the campgrounds bottom fishing with bait. Lake Granby- Rainbows are along the shorelines in the evening. Use binoculars or drive around the lake until you find them rising to the bug hatch. Cast a fly or small spoon to the rise. Patience, timing and casting accuracy are key to this bite. Lake trout are eating tubes, spoons and grubs tipped with sucker meat in 60'-80'. Find a few fish in the area before you drop.

Grand Lake - lake trout are being caught in 25 to 50 feet of water with small tubes and spoons tipped with sucker meat. The bite has slowed down this week. Rainbows and browns are 5 to 20 feet down and that bite has been inconsistent. The best bite seems to be on the overcast windy days and calm sunny days being the toughest. Williams Fork - Water capacity is 100%. Ramp hours are 6AM to 8PM daily. Surface temp is 61 warming to 64 on sunny calm days. The Lake Trout bite is fair to good depending on the day. Fish are scattered and moving deeper. Look for them in 70 to 90 foot. Jig small tubes or grubs tipped with sucker meat and be very patient. Frequent moves will keep you on biting fish. Bait fishermen are catching a few Rainbows around the campgrounds with worms, Powerbait and salmon eggs. Cast small spinners to rises early and late in the day. Kokanee trolling is very slow due to low population. Koke trollers are mostly catching small Lake Trout. Northern Pike are slow, but you'll find them hanging in the shallow water in all the bays. Lake Granby- The bug hatches in the evening are bringing lots of rainbows to the banks. Look in the backs of bays for fish rising to bugs. A small spoon or fly will make these fish easy targets. Lake trout continue their slide into deeper water. 60'-80' seems to be a great depth. Tubes, grubs or spoons tipped with sucker meat are all getting bit.

Here is your Grand County fishing report for the week of 6-28-20.

Grand Lake - water temp is 61 in the mornings. Lake trout fishing has been good in 20 to 45 feet of water. Small spoons and tubes tipped with sucker meat has produced most of the lakers. Rainbows and Browns have moved a little deeper and are being caught 15 to 20 feet of water during the day. Trolling has been the most effective technique targeting the browns and rainbows. Williams Fork - The lake is finally full. Water capacity is at 100%. Ramp hours are 6AM to 8PM. Surface temp has risen to 59 warming to 62 on a sunny day. The Lake Trout bite has picked up now that the lake has topped off. All age groups can be found in 55' to 85'. Fish deeper as the day wears on. Tubes and rubber grubs tipped with sucker meat can produce limits for the patient angler. Some Rainbows are being caught lake wide bottom fishing with worms, eggs or Power Bait. Small Rainbows are hitting spinners and flies in the inlet. Northern's are slow but devoted fishermen are catching a few in the west side bays. Here is your Grand County fishing report for the week of 6-22-20

 Williams Fork - Water capacity is 98%. Ramp hours are 6AM to 8PM. Surface temp is 56 early AM warming to 60/62 on a sunny day. There are several partially submerged large logs in the main body... keep a sharp eye out for them. The Lake Trout bite fair to good dependent on the day. The fish are moving deeper with each passing week. Look for them in 55' to 85'. Tube jigs or rubber baits tipped with sucker meat will produce some hits. Patience key right now. Frequent moves will keep you on biting fish. Northerns are slow but can be found in the shallows in all the bays and along the rocks ledges. They'll take about anything you throw at them with a slow to moderate retrieve. Rainbows are being caught lake wide bottom fishing with bait. The inlet is producing some fish where the river meets the lake with small spoons, spinners or flies. A few Kokanee are being caught trolling in 40' to 50' but trollers are mainly catching small Lake Trout. Randy H Guide - Fishing with Bernie 

Grand Lake - Water temp 51, run off is slowing down. Lake trout are being caught in 25 to 50 feet of water on small plastics tipped with sucker meat. In the early morning (first light) browns and rainbows are still catching but are moving deeper by mid morning. Sam Hochevar- Fishing with Bernie 

Lake Granby- 56 degrees, The lake should fill this week, run off is slowing down. Rainbows are fishing very well around the shorelines. Powerbait and worms seem to be working best. In the evenings look for risers and cast small spoons to the rise. A few browns are being caught in rocky areas very early in the morning on various minnow style baits, the night bite should be heating up in the next couple weeks. Lake trout are fishing good to excellent. 40'-80' has been the best for us. Tube jigs, grubs and spoons tipped with sucker meat all have been working very well.
