Middle Park fishing report for the week of 8-13-18

Here is your middle park fishing report for the week of 8-13-2108. Williams Fork Fishing Report, Surface temp is 64 in the AM warming to 69/70 by the end of the day. Water level is 92%. For August the lake trout bite is still good on younger fish. We are catching in 80' to 100' of water on rubber grubs tipped with sucker meat. By noon to 1PM jigging goes flat until the evening. Very light hits are at or within a few inches of the bottom. Trollers are catching Rainbows as deep as 20' and picking up an occasional adult Kokanee at 40'. Northern Pike are hit or miss. If the weather stacks up right you have good chance at a trophy. Fish shallow water early AM and late PM. Under blue sunny skies on a calm day fish deeper. Grand Lake, Rainbows are eating flies and small spoons late in the evening. Lake trout are hitting small jigs tipped with sucker meat. Try working 60'-80' along the edges. 

Wolford. Kokanee are moving into deeper water. Jigging "slab" spoons like Reel Bait "Plain Jane's" at the tops of the schools has been working well. Trollers are catching fish with squid and dodger combos. Rainbows have been hitting "Power Bait" near the shores. 

Lake Granby was stocked with about 9000 catchable rainbows last week. The shoreline fishing should be good early and late in the day. Lake trout are hitting small spoons, tubes and minnow patterns tipped with sucker meat and jigged in 60'-80'of water. Trollers are doing well with down riggers and spoons while fishing 60'-80' over 100'-150' of water.

Weekly fishing report for the week of 8-7-2018

Williams Fork, Surface temp has dropped a few degrees to 62 in the early AM. Water level is 93%. The Lake trout bite is surprisingly good for early August. The best action is in the first few hours of the morning then steadily drops off until the evening bite. We are catching in 80' to 100' of water. Most any rubber jig tipped with sucker meat will produce hits at or near the bottom. Northern Pike remain hit or miss depending on environmental conditions. Fish deeper water on calm blue sunny days. Move to shallower water during the last couple of hours of daylight. Rainbows are being caught near moving water in the inlet on small spinners. Bank fishing Rainbows on the bottom with bait is frustrating because the crawdads get your bait before a fish finds it. Grand Lake, Rainbows and browns are being caught along the shorelines early and late in the day. Small spoons or a  fly and bubble seem to be producing fish. Lake trout are getting a little tougher to catch. Looking for fish that have not seen a lot of pressure seems to be key right now. Small white and  glow jigs and spoons tipped with sucker meat have been producing a few fish in 40'-50' of water.

Lake Granby, The water level is dropping, air temps have been down to 32 on some mornings. Water temps are hovering around 65. A few rainbows are being caught trolling the shorelines with small crank baits. Bank fishermen seem to be doing best early and late in the day with small spoons or a fly and a bubble. Look for the fish rising and cast to them. Lake trout fishing is still fair to good on most days. Tubes and spoons tipped with sucker meat seem to be doing best for the jiggers in 50'-80' of water. Trollers are doing well with spoons. 

The Kokanee at Wolford are schooling up, trollers with lead core or down riggers are doing well right now. Look for the schools to go deeper this month, when they do, drop slab spoons to the schools.

Weekly fishing report 7-23-2018

Here is your Middle Park fishing report for the week of 7-9-18. 

Williams Fork, Surface temp this week is 66 in the early AM warming to low 70's by late afternoon. Water level is 97% and dropping. Lake Trout bite remains good. Best bite is early AM. We are catching fish in 80' to 100' of water on rubber grubs tipped with sucker meat. Hits are coming on bottom or 1" to 2" off the bottom. Northern Pike action is slow to fair depending on weather conditions. The last few hours of the day are you best bet for hooking trophy. Will Fork was stocked last week with Rainbows. Shore fisherman should be able to catch some Rainbows with fly and bubble or small spinners early AM or late PM. Mid day try bottom fishing with  bait. Grand Lake, rainbows are eating bugs and spoons near the shorelines early and late in the day. These fish are cruising the shorelines, moving around to find them helps your chances. Lake trout fishing is fair to good, soft plastics tipped with sucker meat or "Gulp" minnows are getting bites throughout the day. 

Lake Granby is fishing good for lake trout. Soft plastics tipped with "Gulp" minnows or sucker meat, spoons, hair jigs are all producing for the jiggers. Trollers are catching fish with down riggers on spoons and crank baits. Rainbows are being caught on worms, powerbait and small spoons from the shore. Trollers are catching them on spoons and crank baits.

Weekly fishing report for the week of 7-16-18

Here is your Middle Park fishing report for the week of 7-9-18. Williams Fork, Surface temp is up to 66 in the early AM. Water level is holding at 99%. Lake Trout bite is still good but the fish are working into deeper water each week. This week we were catching in 80' to 100' of water on rubber grubs tipped with sucker meat and a slow presentation 1" to 2" off the bottom. Northern Pike are very slow on bright sunny days. Overcast skies with light wind in the PM hours will increase you chances of hooking a trophy. Kokanee Salmon trolling is slow due to low population density, but I did see a couple of small schools along the north east rocky shoreline near the buoy line. Rainbows are breaking the surface early AM and late PM. A Fly and bubble or small spinners/spoons should produce some hits. Randy Hall Guide - Fishing with bernie

It is easy to tell that summer has hit the Grand Lake area. The crowds are in full swing on and off the water. Please use extra caution while navigating around the lake especially when near shore due to the amount activity in these areas. Even with the large crowds and warm water, the lake trout fishing remains very consistent. The fish are much deeper than they have been in the past month or two but remain eager to eat a well presented tube jig at the depths. The deeper you can find structure right now, the better. The rainbow and brown trout bite remains good but you must be casting from shore well before the sun raises and hits the water. Small spoons, crankbaits and even bait fished near the bottom is taking fish right now. Please remember that the boat inspections are from 7am-8pm Monday to Friday and from 6am-8pm Saturday and Sunday. There is always a chance of having a small wait at the ramp due to the amount of boats putting in/taking out so please plan accordingly. 

Lake Granby, Rainbows are being caught in the backs of bays. The evening bite is very good when you find the fish, cast a small spoon or fly directly into the rise. The key to this bite is finding the hatch. We found it last weekend in the shallow grassy bays. There are a few Kokanee being caught in columbine bay by trollers using down riggers and squids. Lake trout are being caught 50-120' deep. Jigging plastic jigs or spoons tipped with sucker meat has been effective. trollers have been doing very well trolling spoons tipped with sucker meat or "GULP". Using sonar to find fish is very important to success whether your jigging or trolling.

Middle Park Report for the week of 7-3-18

Here is your middle park fishing report for the week of 7-3-18

Williams Fork, Surface temp has dropped from last week to 57 in the early AM. Just got off the water and the Lake Trout bite was outstanding! We are catching Laker's in 60' to 70' of water 1" to 2" off the bottom with Berkley jigs tipped with sucker meat. Trollers are catching Lake Trout that are suspended in the water column or with down riggers near the bottom. Shore fisherman are catching stocked Rainbows on the bottom with bait, or casting small spinners and flies in early AM or late PM. Northern action has picked up. Grand Lake, A few rainbows and browns are being caught early and late in the day casting lures at the shore. Shore fishermen would do best to keep their bait and lures near the shore early and late. During mid day try a little deeper. Lake trout are being caught 30'-80' deep. Tubes, spoons, twister tails tipped with sucker meat or "GULP" are all working. Trollers are catching all species on spoons and crank baits. rainbows and browns will be  scattered less then 15' deep over deeper water and lake trout will be a little bit deeper.

Lake Granby, Rainbows can be caught in the evenings with small spoons, worms or power bait. Trollers are catching them with spoons and spinners. The night fishing for brown trout is heating up. Fishing late in the evening has been producing a few fish over 20" with big flies behind a bubble. Look for shallow areas that contain a mix of mud and rock. Vegetation can be a bonus. Lake trout are being caught 40'-100' and deeper. Trollers with down riggers have been doing very well with spoons, spinners, crank baits and squids. Jiggers have been catching fish with tubes, twister tails, hair jigs and spoons.

Middle Park Fishing Report for the Week of 6-25-18

Here is your middle park fishing report for the week of 6-25-18

Lake Granby- Rainbows are up in the shallow bays eating bugs in the evenings. A small spoon or fly cast to rises will elicit bites. During the day powerbait and worms fished near the bottom should catch a few fish. Browns are still cruising the shorelines early and late in the day. The key is to fish deeper for them. Deep diving crank baits like a flicker shad or marabou jigs fished through 8'-10' of water should get bit. Lake trout are being caught in depths of 40'-100' of water. Spoons, tube jigs, twister tails and trolled crank baits will all produce bites.

Grand Lake- Rainbows are being caught near any moving water and in a few spots along the shorelines. Spoons and power bait are working well early and late in the day. A few browns are being caught on minnow style baits along the shorelines. Lake trout are being caught 30'-60'deep. Tube jigs, twister tails, and spoons tipped with sucker meat should get bites.  

Williams Fork Fishing Report - Surface temp is in the AM is in the low 60's warming to mid 60's in the afternoon. Will Fork is at 99% capacity. She's already going down! The Lake Trout bite is good. We are catching fish in 46' to 76' of water on rubber jigs tipped with sucker meat. Some jiggers are catching fish in 100' to 150' of water. Small stocked Rainbows are cruising the shoreline. They should be catch-able with small spinners or flies. Pike bite is slow but improving as the water warms. Slow moving jerk baits may produce some hits in the AM. Spinner baits cranked just fast enough to move the blades should produce some fish in the PM. Kokanee trolling is slow. I'm hearing the catch rate is one to two fish per hour. Middle Park fishing report for the week of 6-4-18

Here is your middle park report for the week of 6-4-18. 

Grand Lakes Surface temp is in the high 40's. As the summer time temps raise, the trout have been sliding out a little bit deeper to follow the prime water. Right now, it is very important watch your electronics and adjust your techniques accordingly. Fishing high in the water column has been productive but once the sun beats down on the surface, the trout have been going deeper. Casting small spoons and spinners has been best for the rainbows and browns lately in 5-20 feet of water.  The cooler water seems to be holding the fish so early and late in the day have been the best times for consistency. The lake trout on Grand Lake seem to be close to steep drops where they can get at their meal and then retreat back to the deeper, cooler water. Small tubes with a small piece of meat and spoons have been working best. I have been seeing the majority of the fish from 30-60 feet deep depending on time of day. The fly fishing remains good using large, dark bugs. Once the water clears up a bit, it will be prime dry fly time and that means some great fishing is right around the corner. Rainbows are being caught from shore on spinners and tight-lining with worms, eggs or Power Bait. Northern Pike is slow as is trolling for Kokanee. There is still a lot of debris on the water. Lake Granby, Surface temp is in the 50's. Rainbows are in the shallows. Worms, power bait, small spoons and spinners are working well. Browns are near rocky areas. Marabou jigs, spoons and crank baits are all producing fish throughout the day.

Lake trout fishing is very good, tube jigs tipped with sucker meat,  Reelbait slab spoons and "Gulp" minnows are all working for the jiggers. Trollers are catching fish on spoons and crank baits. There are a few kokanee being caught over deeper water with small bright spoons and spinners.

Here is your middle park report for the week of 5-28-18.

Williams Fork Fishing, Surface temp is in the high 40's. Lake trout can still be found relativity shallow early in the morning. Move to deeper water late morning. Lake Trout bite has been good up to 1:00 PM in 50' to 70' of water on any rubber jig tipped with sucker meat. Shore fisherman are catching small Rainbows casting or tight-lining with bait. Pike bite has been slow but will improve once the lake fills. Their is a lot of debris on the lake right now. Watch out for logs! Middle Park fishing report for the week of 5-21-18.

The ramps are open at Williams Fork from 6am till 8 pm. Shore fishing for rainbows has been excellent, marabou jigs, worms and power bait have all been working well. Lake trout are very catchable from a boat in 30-90 feet of water. Pike are still slow but will get more active as the water warms.

Grand Lake ramps are open. Browns and rainbows as well as a few lakers are being caught around the shorelines. Small crank baits early in the morning or bait near the shore will yield a few fish. Lake trout are being caught in depths of 3-50'. Tubes, spoons and Gulp minnows were all getting bit this weekend.

Lake Granby is fishing very well. Rainbows are cruising the shorelines, power bait, worms or small spoons will be effective baits. Browns are near rocky areas crank baits early and late in the day are your best bets. Lake trout are still near the banks as well as out in the deeper water. Tubes, marabous, flutter spoons and crank baits are all working.

Middle Park fishing report 5-3-2018

Here is your Middle Park report for thew week of 5-2 18. The ice is off most of our lakes. The docks are near the ramps but you still have to walk in the mud to get to your boat. Casting minnow baits like the Berkely Cutter 90 and 110 early and late in the day is constantly producing browns and lake trout. Later in the day power minnows, havoc tubes and flutter spoons are catching fish. Trollers are catching fish with flutter spoons and minnow baits. Rainbows are in the inlets along with suckers. An easy way to catch these fish is to use a worm on the bottom.
